THOUGHT WAS ON A THRONE "1" by Joseph C. Ogbu (JoeNwaOgbu)

I thought it was a feast
My mind said, it was a coronation
Hands too heavy, filled with gifts
That it was not easy raising them,
Only by the assistance of neighbors.

Weariness overwhelmed body
Due to over-relaxation on a throne,
Visitors, known and unknown; all with gifts
Presenting them with a full respect; Yes I remember,
Glad I was to joined the chorus of an epitaph.

Though voices smooth and melodious
But never knew a sound may not justified a taste,
Never knew I was on a painful song with my people
Whose hearts were filled with bitterness and cracks
Mind deceived; saying, relax! on a feast you are with your people.

God! I thought I was singing, but it was not,
I saw myself lucky and joyous, welcoming crowd,
I truly thought, I was a greatest king ever
Who lies on exclusive throne; but it was pure fiction,
Never knew my thoughts were mere illusion.

Cars on convoy I thought, belonged to me
Women around, I thought I was Solomon
Children on hide-and-seek, I thought all were mine,
Men at work, I thought my servants were good workers
But never knew the business of men was on one's grave.

On a queue saw but great people coming to my throne
Bowing and waving hands in respect before me,
Some like genuflecting emotionally
Others lying prostrate before my throne,
Amazed I was, for I recalled my status.

Suddenly, fear arrived with no invitation
Tried calling a servant holding a bright
And decorated candle light
But seemed my voice was not louder to reach him,
Then, what may I do?

Different signs used to call attention
But thought he pretended not to see nothing,
Still, an eye contact offered,
But unbelievable,
My servant decided not to obey, I hopelessly thought.

Aggressively, I tried jumping from my smooth throne
Then, I finally heard a harsh and sorrowful trumpet
Blowing without one's intervention; so everything was illusion!
That was when, I finally recognized; oh! I am dead,
And all thoughts were nothing but thoughts in a casket.

Yes! let us know that Death loves everyone
And fights everywhere
With no consideration, on where mounted a boundary,
Then, as we keep watching the deceased
Let us not forget to prepare our relics.

Know that, as we remember the dead today,
So shall we be remembered latter,
Let us be humble, and truly live this life,
For no one knows when the bell will ring,
Or when the sorrowful trumpet may cry again.

Then, be courageous and never fear death
Knowing that her generosity must be enjoyed
Without prejudice, but with undivided love,
Now, lets get ready and follow the sound of her drum,
As drum sounds, be humble, faithful and gladly join the queue.
