CAN WE BE SAINTS AS WELL? by Joseph C. Ogbu (JoeNwaOgbu)
Their sweat never in vain
Their lives never escaped pain
Their race ended with no stain
To them, God awarded heaven a gain.
With love they carried cross with smile
Tough it was, seeing multiple pains did compile
Still, they never complained, but all sent to a heavenly profile
Where every data is kept in one's beautiful file.
Today we call them Saints
Not because they were blessed with uncountable cents
But all, fruits of divinely compliments
As God's faithful and courageous servants.
They are people born like we in their due
Challenges, temptations they encountered like we do
Evils they rejected, good they held; and kept lives new
Like flowers receiving fresh morning dew.
November first, celebration calls for Solemnity
In Solemnity, a day recalls people's simplicity
Because of simplicity, they grabbed crowns from Divinity
Which granted them favour to inherit the joy of Trinity.
Now, we meditate on what we are pursuing to possess
Now, lets be calm and examine our conscience
Now, lets ask; but where are our lives thirsting for maintenance
As a day invites all to celebrate our Brothers and Sisters' success.
Yes! Our time has rightly come
To grab and offer virtues a welcome
So that our lives may not contradict, what God has for us to become
Which is nothing but holy life; ever greater than earthly income.
Do you know! We can be saints as well?
Nothing it takes but to corporate with God's grace to dwell
Even when the world has declared us a hell
Fear not, hate evils; call and turn to God and hold Him tight as well.
Dear God, today I declare myself a sinner
With you, I remain certain to be a winner
As I stand to reject evils laying ambush at every corner
For You alone, God! Is a true Helper and Partner.
